This is called pregnancy gingivitis! During pregnancy this inflammation of the gums is worsen due to an imbalance of progesterone and estrogen. Some Bacteroides find a good source of nutrition from these hormones causing increased blood flow to the mouth and making the gums friable. If left untreated, it can turn into periodontal disease.
